Swim Program Head Coach & Senior Head Coach
David is excited to return for the 2024 season! This will be his 9th year coaching competitive swimming, and he is looking forward to building on the successes of last summer. David completed his Bachelor of Kinesiology at the University of British Columbia and is a NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist. In swimming, he’s completed NCCP 101 and is currently working on the final stages of NCCP 201. He has previous coaching experiences in soccer, track, strength and conditioning, and personal training. In addition to swimming, he loves playing soccer, strength training, and spending time with friends and family. David can’t wait to be back on deck and is eager to help swimmers achieve their goals this season!
Daniel brings experience and knowledge to the Coquitlam Sharks as this year’s intermediate head coach. With 8 years of coaching and 13 years of racing experience under his belt, he is dedicated to helping athletes reach their goals and become the best version of themselves in the pool. As a former competitive swimmer, Daniel understands the hard work and attention to detail required to excel in the sport. His coaching philosophy emphasizes creating a team-oriented environment where swimmers want to show up and work hard in order to improve their skill set. Additionally, he believes in teaching swimmers the objective behind every drill, set and practice in order to create athletes who train with a purpose.
Beyond the pool, Daniel is completing his major in psychology and minor in human development and counselling. He also hopes to pursue his masters in counselling psychology in the near future. When not on the pool deck, he can be found playing other sports, reading books and going on hikes with his dog. Daniel is excited to be coming back for his second season with the Coquitlam Sharks and is looking forward to seeing you at the pool!
Kennedy is a new addition for summer 2024! With 15+ years of personal competitive swimming and 5 years of both club and private coaching, she is excited to bring her knowledge and experience to the Sharks! Kennedy’s achievements as a former competitive swimmer include provincial and national medals, 5 NCAA all-americans, and several Simon Fraser University records. Additionally, in her last season, she earned an invitation to the FINA World Cup to compete against some of the World’s best! Outside of swimming, Kennedy recently graduated from Simon Fraser University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Behavioural Neuroscience. Using her academic and athletic experience she has shaped her coaching style to emphasize technique and mental preparation, with the hopes of creating a positive and welcoming environment for all athletes. She is looking forward to meeting everyone and looks forward to a season full of fun and success!
With 15 years in the pool, Alycia has transitioned from competitive swimming—earning a silver medal at the Canadian Nationals and multiple golds at the North American Indigenous Games—to a respected coaching career. Over the past seven years, she has coached teams across Alberta, British Columbia, and New York, developing a deep understanding of what drives swimmers to succeed. Alycia competed at a NCAA Division I University in New York City while pursuing her Marketing degree over the last four years. Her passion for swimming and education didn’t stop at personal achievements; she also founded SwimXCommunity, a swim school dedicated to nurturing swimmers of all ages and skill levels.
This summer, Alycia is poised to enhance the team’s performance with her innovative coaching style. Focused on speed, technique, mental preparation, and fostering a positive team culture, she aims to build a supportive environment where every swimmer can thrive and achieve their best. Her approach not only improves physical performance but also instills confidence and camaraderie among her athletes.
Chloe is thrilled to be returning for another amazing summer with the Coquitlam Sharks! She has been an active member of the Sharks community for over 13 years as a swimmer and coach for 7. Throughout her years as a swim coach, she has had the opportunity to work with all age groups for at least a season and feels privileged to be returning this year as the development head coach. She is looking forward to sharing her passion and knowledge of the sport. Her goal for the season is to provide a fun and supportive environment to help her athletes achieve their goals. Chloe is looking forward to getting to meet everyone for a fantastic summer!
Kathryn is excited to be back as the Minis and Masters head coach this season! Kathryn swam with Sharks for 10 years and participated in summer swimming in BCSSA from age 4 to 18. She has 8 years of experience coaching, private and with clubs, of all ages and skill levels. This is Kathryn’s 8th year coaching with Sharks, working mostly with Development and Mini Sharks and this is her second year working with Masters.
Outside of swimming, Kathryn is going into her 3rd year of a Bachelor of Arts degree with a joint major in History and English at Queen’s University in Ontario. She is excited to be back on the deck, and to support all swimmers to achieve their goals this season!
Natalie is returning to her fifth season coaching Sharks! She has been a competitive speed and artistic swimmer since she was 5, and has competed at National and International level competitions. She has recently completed her Bachelor’s Degree at Simon Fraser University, all while competing in the NCAA Division 1 for Artistic Swimming. Natalie looks forward to sharing her love for artistic swimming with new and experienced athletes!
I have coached diving for the last 13 years. Coaching with Sharks since 2021. I work with high performance and recreational athletes among all ages. I dove for 11 years and was part of the junior national team in Colombia. Nowadays, I spend most of my time coaching athletes and educating other coaches. I’m a learning facilitator for the NCCP, FINA judge and coach. I look forward to working with all the summer divers and coaches, having fun, learning new skills and flips!
Coach Taylor is excited to begin her 3rd season head coaching the water polo program! She has had a ton of amazing opportunities since last summer such as the opportunity to assistant coach the 17U women’s travel team and head coach the 15U girls travel team at Surrey Water Polo. She has also been working with and meeting new coaches from all over North America! Coach Taylor is excited to utilize all her new knowledge to help continue to grow this fun and successful program. She is looking forward to helping athletes achieve their team and individuals goals while having as much fun as possible!
